Ag District 13 members urge caution as SNPLMA proceeds remain uncertain

Members of the White Pine County Agricultural District 13 meeting on Feb. 9 discussed concerns about the districts reliance on SNPLMA proceeds and the risk that county reallocations could reduce their budget. Bill Panagopoulos urged the board to "spend all the money in our budget to protect it from it being reallocated to other organizations," saying the district had built its funding over many years and should remain conservative.
Chairman Ben Noyes and other members said past practice of leaving unspent funds had led to subsequent budget cuts and warned that continued delay on capital improvements could jeopardize the district's ability to hold the fair. Maintenance staff Cole Burdick told the board it "could be months out from hearing a response from SNPLMA on appendix L," and Cody Coombs said deliverables likely remain the original appendix L list rather than a narrowed event-center request. The board discussed proceeding with necessary work using district funds while SNPLMA remains unresolved, noting the tradeoff between spending now and risking future appropriation reductions.
