Bond County approves courthouse-lawn uses, ratifies Salvation Army thermometer placement

The Bond County Board on Dec. 2 ratified the previously approved placement of the Salvation Army thermometer on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn for Nov. 17, 2025–Jan. 9, 2026. The ratification passed on a roll call vote of five ayes, zero nays.
The board also approved a request from Dale Hawkins to use the courthouse lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2025. Jacob Rayl moved the approval; Bernard Myers seconded. Roll call vote: 5 ayes, 0 nays. Both actions were recorded as administrative approvals and require no further board action in the minutes.
