Council advances first reading to set North Chillicothe speed limit at 25 mph

Council took up a first reading of Resolution 40-2025 to reduce the speed limit on North Chillicothe Street to 25 miles per hour in the residential area north of Pastime Park. Village Administrator Lupton described the proposal as mirroring a similar change on South Chillicothe last fall and said the change “would extend the residential type of zone to 25, and then it would allow golf carts to get to the entrance of Pastime Park.”
Council members asked staff for clarification about the precise extent of the 25-mph zone, whether it should run to State Route 42, and how the change would interact with future development and ODOT-controlled segments such as Main Street. One member requested staff confirm the recommended boundary before the second reading; Lupton said she would follow up and confirm details.
