Bond County approves Courthouse lawn protest dates and Greenville University event permits

The Bond County Board approved a request by Dale Hawkins to use the Courthouse lawn for peaceful protests on Oct. 18, Nov. 1 and Nov. 15, 2025. The Board denied additional requested dates of Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, 2025 because other events were already scheduled. The motion to approve Hawkins' requested dates was made by Jeff Rehkemper and seconded by Wes Pourchot; the vote was 4-0.
The Board also approved requests from Robyn Florian of Greenville University for multiple campus-related events on the Courthouse lawn: Oct. 23 (Panther Palooza), Oct. 24 (GU Homecoming events) and Dec. 5–7 (Fill the Ville). Those motions carried on 4-0 roll calls. The minutes do not list permit conditions, insurance requirements or security arrangements.
