Kitchen hood invoice approved; original vendor dissolved hood division but warranty work honored

Staff presented a $22,000 progress payment for the kitchen hood installation performed by Conklin Service Corporation and recommended approval. Brian Gardner informed the committee that the original subcontractor for the hood, Gem Mechanical, "ended up dissolve they were the contractor for the hood" but that Gem's commercial division was honoring warranty work and dispatched trucks to make repairs.
Gardner said the problematic piece of equipment has been replaced and the system should be back online; the committee moved and approved the invoice by voice vote. Staff said the warranty and contractor responsiveness reduced the project's potential cost exposure for the city.
