Derek Hall, the City of Rowlett’s community development director, administered the oath of office to newly appointed and reappointed members of the Board of Adjustment and instructed them to sign the oath document to be notarized.
"Good evening, Mr. Chair, members of the board, Derek Hall, community development director," Hall said as he opened the oath procedure and read the statutory language requiring members to "preserve, protect, and defend the constitution and laws of The United States and of this state." He told the new appointees a notary was present to notarize their signatures.
Newly appointed members introduced themselves before the board proceeded to elections. Kendall Patton said he works for JPMorgan and wants to "give back and grow with the city," Gavin Schultz said he has lived in Rowlett for over 40 years and works for a local concrete company, and Greg Horniman said he has more than 40 years' experience in sales, marketing and consulting.
The board recessed from the oath once all signatures and notary arrangements were confirmed and returned to the agenda for officer elections.
