After losing county grant, Peekskill will continue summer youth employment with other funding

"This year, the city was unsuccessful in being awarded the grant," Deputy Mayor Riley said, noting the city assembled alternative funding to preserve the program. The council voted to authorize use of the DCJS funds and city budgeted labor for the youth employment program, which targets 14‑ to 20‑year‑olds.
Why it matters: The summer program provides income and work experience to local youth; losing the county grant would have jeopardized the program but the city identified alternate funding to keep it running.
