Council committee approves moving Dawna Drive water-line replacement to Council agenda

The Public Service Committee voted unanimously on March 10 to advance an ordinance that would let the city seek a Water Supply Revolving Loan Account nomination and subsequent funding for the Dawna Drive water-line replacement. City Engineer Glenn Davis told the committee the main near the hospital "had a number of breaks" and a prior corrosion study failed to identify a definitive cause, making full replacement the prudent option.
The nomination window for the funding opportunity closes March 22, and Davis said the projects are timed so construction can begin in summer and continue into the fall. Council Member Zach Berger moved to forward the legislation to the full Council; Council Member Chris Maxwell seconded and the motion carried. The committee recommended two readings on the Council agenda.
