Haywood County commissioners approved a construction easement March 3 allowing Duke Energy to relocate two power poles that sit on county property along Pisgah Drive/Max Thompson Road. Frank, speaking for county staff, said the poles were moved because floodwaters compromised the prior locations and Duke requested the easement to formalize the new placement.
"They were actually sort of more over on us. Now they're coming a little bit closer to the DOT's road right away," Frank said, explaining the relocation and noting that DOT would handle any encroachment permit needed. Commissioners discussed local outage impacts during the flood and supported the easement; the motion passed unanimously.
