Commissioners designate county manager, finance director as agents for Hazard Mitigation Program (DR4827-NC)

The Haywood County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 3 to adopt a resolution designating the county manager as the primary agent and the finance director as the secondary agent for the Hazard Mitigation Program tied to disaster number DR4827-NC. Emergency Management Coordinator Zach Coontz explained the designation is a required step so the county can receive, process and submit mitigation applications for projects such as acquisition, landslide mitigation and elevation of structures related to Hurricane Helene.
"This is one of the parts of that grant process to allow us to be able to continue forward and push those applications on," Zach Coontz said, describing the resolution as administrative but necessary for moving mitigation work and grant applications forward. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the resolution without discussion.
