County plans $1M resurfacing of transfer-station tipping floor, expects short closure window

County staff described the transfer-station tipping floor as near the end of its typical service life and proposed a resurfacing project.
"Those floors don't usually last more than about 10 years anyway...I think it was around a million," Mark Storey and David Nails said, describing a design-and-build effort possibly staged for next year. Storey explained the operational challenge: contractors must work within a brief multi-day window to recast the floor while staff stack incoming garbage so daily collection is not disrupted.
Staff said they will pursue design this year with construction planned next year, and that specialty rapid-setting concrete products will likely be used. The committee treated the project as planned maintenance rather than a policy change.
