Board of Adjustment set to consider Jerita substation expansion and 2GM setback variance March 12

Whitman County staff told the Planning Commission on March 4 that the Board of Adjustment will hear two matters on March 12: Inland Power and Light's conditional-use application to expand the Jerita substation to permit placement of a mobile substation in the event of maintenance or emergency outages, and a side-setback variance for 2GM (Motleys) for a proposed building at the corner of Pullman Airport Road and State Route 270.
Grace DiBiase said the Jerita substation was originally installed before modern planning permits were in place and the expansion would typically be an administrative use permit, but because the substation itself is being retroactively regularized it appears as a conditional-use item to the Board of Adjustment. She also said an administrative variance was issued for 2GM's drive-through coffee proposal at the same business park location, while the side-setback variance for the Motleys is proceeding to a public hearing on March 12.
