Staff reports PST testing change; commission considers updating Civil Service Rules

At the Feb. 23, 2026 meeting, commission staff reported that the Public Safety Testing (PST) program had changed testing rules so that an Entry Level Deputy test and a Correction Officer PST test can use the same scores because the two tests are now identical.
Cheri Kramer told the commission: "PST had changed some rules of testing, such as an individual who tests for the Entry Level Deputy position can have their test and scores transferred/used for the Correction Officer PST requirements, and visa/versa." She said the commission should add new language to the Civil Service Commission Rules to accommodate the testing change.
Commissioners discussed that the testing change could simplify candidate processing across deputy and corrections registers but did not record a formal rule amendment at this meeting. Staff and commissioners agreed to consider drafting rule language for a future meeting.
