Council honors retiring town clerk and postmistress; chief receives service award

Mayor McMillan read a proclamation honoring Town Clerk Cindy Martel for her service to Ross (December 2022–March 2026), citing more than 150 staff reports, over 40 council meetings administered, election procedures overseen, and fiscal and records responsibilities. The proclamation concluded: "I do hereby name Cindy Martel a Ross employee extraordinaire and recognize the positive impact she made and thank her profusely for her dedicated service." Cindy Martel will retire from her position on 03/30/2026.
The council also recognized Annabella Serrano, who served as the town’s postmistress and a U.S. Postal Service employee for 42 years; the proclamation notes daily volumes of approximately 3,000 pieces of mail and 200 packages at the Ross post office and lists Serrano’s retirement date as 06/30/2026. Attendees from the post office were invited to introduce themselves.
Earlier in the meeting the council presented a five‑year service award to Police Chief Pata. Chief Pata thanked council members and staff and noted continued work on department initiatives and succession planning.
