HUD sidewalk project 75% complete; city eyes paving where sidewalks touch
Summary
The Friendsville HUD sidewalk project is about 75% complete. Remaining work includes North Morgan, pavilion-area sidewalks and a segment in front of the Beauty Shop; the grant allows paving where it abuts sidewalks and may cover resurfacing on North Morgan. College Avenue paving tied to sewer work could be covered by a Blount County/ARPA grant.

City Administrator Kim Rogers told the Board that the HUD-funded sidewalk project in Friendsville is roughly 75% complete.
Kim identified remaining project areas as North Morgan, sidewalks at the pavilion area and the sidewalk in front of the Beauty Shop. She said the HUD grant allows paving where it touches a sidewalk, which could permit resurfacing North Morgan. Kim noted that North Young will require full resurfacing because the road is "completely gone" and that College Avenue paving could be covered by a Blount County/ARPA grant because College Avenue is part of sewer work.
The minutes do not include estimated costs or completion dates for the remaining work; the city administrator indicated hope that grant funds would cover the necessary paving.
