Council President Garry Thompson told members Council is set to appear before the Charter Review Commission on April 2 and urged council input on proposed charter changes, including whether to set a monetary threshold under which contracts would not require full council approval. Thompson said current practice requires council approval for all contracts regardless of amount and suggested the commission consider a threshold or a percentage tied to mayoral spending authority.
Thompson moved to approve the Council Rules of Order dated Feb. 25, 2026; the motion carried unanimously. He also proposed a March 24 work session and noted the finance meeting and community development meeting schedule changes. The item included a governance discussion but no final charter changes; the Charter Review Commission's recommendations would ultimately go to voters.
