Park board readies summer events as council marks Tree City USA recognition

Council Pro-Tempore Megan Coy reported that the Park and Recreation Board held its first meeting and selected Mark McCausland as chair and Savannah Moody as vice-chair. The board is planning Memorial Day events, summer concerts in June–August, a tree lighting and Falls Day in the Park; members discussed reservable pavilion rentals to prevent early-morning 'saves' of space and to potentially raise revenue.
Councilwoman Jacklyn Bartkowski extended congratulations to Olmsted Township for being named a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation and noted Olmsted Falls has been a Tree City USA community for many years. Bartkowski said she remains committed to the Shade Tree Commission's work. The board will meet monthly; residents can follow updates on the board's Facebook page.
