Mayor: New fire engine to be in service by April 20; radio ordering delay resolved

Mayor Chad Gluss relayed a memorandum from the interim fire chief about the city's new fire engine and radio procurement. "The new fire engine is scheduled to go into the shop on Monday April 6th to have equipment relocated from our current fire engine and mounted in the cabinets," Gluss said, adding that firefighters will train the week of April 13 and the engine is expected to be in service "no later than Monday, April 20th."
Gluss also said a technical delay finalizing radio specifications between the city's vendor and the new Motorola representative has been resolved and will not delay the engine's in-service date; the department will use portable radios temporarily until the ordered radios arrive. The update drew no council objection and was presented as an informational item in the mayor's report.
