City Administrator Kim Rogers told the board the HUD sidewalk grant can fund paving of streets that the sidewalk project touches. She specifically identified North Morgan and North Young as candidates and recommended full reconstruction for North Young rather than a mere topcoat, warning a topping would not last given the road—ondition. Rogers estimated reconstruction of North Young at about $66,000 and a topcoat on North Morgan at about $65,000, and said city employees could save roughly $10,000 by performing demolition themselves if feasible.
After discussion about durability and contractor responsibilities, Vice Mayor Jonathan Newberry moved to pave the streets as discussed and have contractor Nitzschke perform the demolition; Commissioner Margaret Maze seconded and the motion passed.
