Several speakers used the public-comment period to urge council to reauthorize the Downtown State College Improvement District. Mark Hunsick, president of the Highland Civic Association and chair of the Redevelopment Authority, offered a neighborhood perspective in support of the district.
Erica Quinn, a College Township resident, said she has worked with Jeffries and DID staff and voiced support for continuing the program. Damien Cabrera, a DID clean-team worker, described day-to-day benefits of the district and concluded, "So please, reauthorize the DID. They're fantastic." Council closed the public hearing after the comments.
