Wright also addressed recent questions about notification procedures when a sex offender moves into Traverse County, saying the department has received inquiries and will provide information at the public forum. "Wright discussed the Shotgun Zone Law changes in Minnesota and shared correspondence and an example ordinance from the Department of Natural Resources," the minutes state. The public meeting will offer an opportunity for residents to hear details and provide input before the county considers any local ordinance action.
The commission did not adopt an ordinance at the Dec. 2 meeting; it limited action to scheduling community review and legal/agency consultation.
