The Traverse County Board unanimously approved a Paid Family Medical Leave Policy during its Dec. 16 meeting (motion by Dwight Nelson, second by Chad Metz). In the same set of actions, the Board approved wage increases for non-union employees and for the County Attorney, County Auditor/Treasurer, and County Sheriff that include a step increase and a 3% cost-of-living adjustment; the motion (made by Chad Metz and seconded by Dwight Nelson) passed unanimously.
The Board also set commissioner per diems for 2026 at $75.00 (motion Metz, second Gail) and approved end-of-year payroll for Social Services staff to be paid Dec. 31, 2025 (motion Nelson, second Schmidt). These personnel and payroll actions were presented during the county coordinator and human resources portion of the agenda.
