Borough releases draft comprehensive zoning ordinance, staff recommends forwarding for review

Staff reported the borough released a second draft of a comprehensive zoning ordinance and a first draft of the subdivision and land development ordinance (SALDO) on June 1 and recommended forwarding the drafts to regional planning bodies; public hearings are tentatively scheduled for November 2026.
Mr. Fontaine reported that on June 1 the State College Borough released a second draft of the comprehensive zoning ordinance and a first draft of the subdivision and land development (SALDO) ordinance for public review and that staff recommends forwarding the drafts to the Center Region Planning Commission, Center County Planning, and the State College Planning Commission for statutorily required review. "Both ordinances are tentatively scheduled for public hearing, later this year with, in November 2026 with adoption thereafter," Fontaine said.
Council discussed continuing review at future meetings and, if it wishes, directing the manager to include the zoning discussion on future agendas. The staff presentation included links to the borough website (www.statecollegepa.us/225/newzoningordinance) where the drafts and timeline are posted.
