Brian Closs, the new Safety Service Director, introduced himself to the council and summarized his background in public safety, emergency management and operations. “My name is Brian Closs … I have 20 years in public safety,” Closs said, noting prior experience running an emergency operations center in Cuyahoga County and working with many regional partners.
Closs told council he is reviewing streets, sewers, sidewalks, tree canopy, roundabouts and cemetery duties, and that he will work with staff to update standard operating procedures and protocols. Council members welcomed him and said they look forward to working with him; one council member offered to schedule a neighborhood walkaround to introduce Closs to residents.
Closs said he plans to remain in the position and to move forward with projects and initiatives alongside city staff.
