Detention-center expansion moving ahead; county has paid $11.6M through December

A construction representative updated the board that contaminated soils have been removed, mass grading and deep foundations are complete, multiple slab-on-grade pours are in place and structural CMU walls and MEP rough-in work are in progress. "We started the project back in April 2024...At this point, the site has been established," Lance Haney said while showing aerial photos of progress.
Finance Director Christian Owen provided the fiscal status: "Through December, we have paid out $11,628,171, which is 37% of the entire project and about 42% of the GMP from Vanoi," he said, noting there are some costs outside the GMP. Contractors said procurement (notably steel) is proceeding and the team expects to push to roofing and drying the building in the coming months.
