Commission authorizes planning for IdeaTek service cabinet at Harvey County East Park

Kass Miller, Harvey County Director of Parks, presented a request from IdeaTek to place a permanently sited service cabinet at East Park that would require a 12' x 16' concrete slab and fencing. IdeaTek representatives said they would pay for construction and maintenance and would provide internet service to the Park office at no charge. Staff emphasized the cabinet’s role in completing fiber to a nearby communications tower.
The commissioners agreed in principle to allow placement of the cabinet and directed staff to develop formal agreements and site plans before construction. Miller recommended the pad location near the park shop and communications tower; the board did not take a formal bid or contract vote at this meeting.
