Public Works reports equipment repairs and road projects; Broadband office outlines phases

Public Works Director Dave Orvis and County Engineer James Wege updated the Board on maintenance and capital work: spot blading to address dust holes in the Odessa area, the Hardung road project set to begin pending relocation of a power pole, and an intersection safety project being evaluated for completion with federal fund-exchange grants. The crusher radiator is in for repair with an estimated out-of-service period of three weeks to one month and an estimated repair cost of $46,131.00.
The Broadband Office Director Margie Hall reported on office progress: Phase 2 (Davenport and Wilbur) is underway; Phase 3 includes Odessa, Reardan, Sprague and Hawk Creek; Phase 4 covers Seven Bays and Deer Meadows. The board approved posting a public notice that a portion of Hawk Creek Road will be closed May 4 through October 6, 2026. Paperwork was submitted to see if an electric backhoe loader qualifies for a voucher to lease the machine for $500 per month; CRAB will visit later in the month to review requested projects.
