Auditor reports elections complete, impending tax forfeiture sale and 6.09% budget increase

County Auditor/Treasurer Kit Johnson updated the board on routine revenue and election matters, telling commissioners the election for the CGB and Wheaton Schools is complete and that the agricultural property tax deadline was Nov. 17. Johnson said TNT statements went out the previous week and notified the board that a Tax Forfeiture sale was scheduled for Nov. 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' room.
Johnson briefed the board on departmental budget activity, saying, "Currently, we are at a 6.09% increase over 2025." She also reported that the Budget Committee will meet with department heads on Friday and Monday to review each department's budget requests. The board did not adopt a final budget at the meeting; the committee review is the next step in the process.
