Commission approves conditional use permit for fill in Lake Traverse conservation district
Summary
The board approved a conditional use permit to allow grading and fill within the Conservation District/Army Corps' Flowage Easement on Lake Traverse after the Planning Commission recommended approval with conditions.
Zoning Administrator Ben Oleson presented an application on Nov. 18 asking for permission to add fill on property in the Conservation District of Lake Traverse. Oleson told the board that "Approval requires a Conditional Use Permit to grade and fill within the Conservation District/Army Corps' Flowage Easement on Lake Traverse." The Planning Commission had recommended approval with conditions.
After Oleson reviewed the Planning Commission's findings of fact, the board briefly rescinded an earlier procedural motion to allow review of those findings. Commissioner Dwight Nelson then moved to approve the conditional use permit with the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment's recommended conditions and findings of fact; Commissioner Chad Metz seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Oleson also provided his annual activity report covering Jan. 1 through Nov. 16, 2025. The permit was approved with the conditions recommended by the Planning Commission; the board did not specify additional conditions in the minutes.
