VERITA director pitches regional development partnership to supervisors

Alex McCoy, executive director of the regional Virginia Heartland Redevelopment & Economic Development Alliance (VERITA), made an introductory presentation to the board on July 17, calling for a partnership approach to rural economic development.
McCoy said VERITA intends to tailor efforts to each locality’s unique needs and timelines, and he offered to meet with supervisors individually. "I would greatly welcome an opportunity to have a cup of coffee with you...to hear from you what you would like to see for your constituents and the kinds of opportunities," McCoy said. He provided an informational handout and told supervisors he will present more formally to the county economic development commission at an upcoming meeting.
Board members thanked McCoy and said they look forward to continued coordination on economic development and possible assistance with recruitment and project facilitation.
