On behalf of Dr. Grimes, Meyer addressed the Board of Supervisors to thank county officials for their support of the proposed school budget for the coming school year.
Meyer told supervisors the school board, at its meeting the previous evening, named Dr. Martha Martin as the next superintendent of Nottoway County Public Schools, effective July 1, 2025. "Doctor Martha Martin as the next superintendent of not only county public schools beginning 07/01/2025," Meyer said, and reminded the board that the last student day is June 5 and graduation is June 7.
Supervisors asked clarifying questions about enrollment and how federal grants are inflating per‑pupil figures for the coming year; Meyer and other school staff explained that federal grant inflows temporarily raise per‑pupil totals and that local match requirements support several at‑risk and pre‑K programs. Staff offered to provide additional budget detail to supervisors and to answer follow‑up questions as the budget adoption process continues.
