Commission recommends El Dorado approve 150-foot cell tower for AT&T

Community Development Director Toby Stewart presented details of a Special Use Permit request for a 150-foot monopole cell tower on property owned by David and Karyl Rush at 1590 SW Boyer Rd. The tower would occupy a 50-by-50-foot leased area, include a 6-foot privacy fence plus plantings, have a lightning rod extending an additional 10 feet, and be set back 183 feet from the nearest property line; power and fiber would be routed underground to the nearest utility pole via an Evergy connection. Staff concluded the proposal is consistent with county regulations and recommended forwarding the application to the City of El Dorado for approval.
Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the recommendation to the City. Stewart noted an existing tower on a nearby parcel and that colocation had been considered. "The tower will have a lightning rod that extends an additional 10’," Stewart said while describing design features and fall-distance compliance.
