Rockcliff Drive reconstruction contract awarded at $2.81 million; trail and pedestrian improvements included

Rocky River awarded the Rockcliff Drive Improvement Project contract to DiGioia-Suburban Excavating, LLC at the July 27 meeting for a total not to exceed $2,813,777.00.
President Pro Tem Morris said the winning bid was $186,223 below the engineer's estimate of $3,000,000. The project replaces aging sanitary and storm sewers, reconstructs the roadway, replaces catch basins and manholes, restores pavement and adds a raised pedestrian crossing and an 8-foot concrete multiuse trail to connect to Wooster Road. Morris said the project stems from the 2021 Community Confluence plan and TLCI recommendations.
Council noted outside funding of roughly $1,350,000 from the Cleveland Division of Water’s Suburban Watermain Renewal Program and a $1,000,000 allocation from the 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act recommended by Rep. Max Miller. The ordinance passed after a recorded vote.
