Claudine Perry, Broadband Officer with the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, told the Council on Aging that statewide AI Safety Week includes a free Maui workshop on April 29 at UH Maui’s Pilina Center with sessions specifically geared toward senior citizens on AI trends and data privacy. Registration was requested to help plan seating; attendees may join individual sessions or the full-day program.
Perry described the event as educational and noncommercial and noted related initiatives such as the Tech‑Savvy Teens program that trains youth to assist kupuna with digital skills. Council members suggested connecting with library Digital Navigators, exploring reuse of retired school computers, and emphasizing scams education for seniors. Chair Romson invited final corrections to a draft Technology Access letter; with general consent staff were asked to finalize and transmit the approved letter.
