Council on Aging unanimously elects Ed Romson as chair for 2026–27

Ed Romson was elected chair of the County of Maui Council on Aging for the 2026–27 term after a unanimous vote at the council’s April 14 meeting.
Member Larry McCarty nominated Romson and Member Heather Ruth-Durham seconded the nomination. A nomination of County Executive Rowena Dagdag-Andaya by Member Lehua Park was ruled invalid because the County Executive is not a voting member of the council. Member McCarty moved to elect Romson, and the Council approved the motion 10–0 with five members absent.
The council did not fill the vice chair position at the meeting. There were no nominations; Member Ruth-Durham indicated willingness to serve if needed, and the vote was postponed to the May 12 meeting. The council also approved the March 10, 2026 minutes with a requested correction clarifying that Pulama Ka Heke is a nonprofit that operates from space at the Molokai Community Health Center but is not administered by the center.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2026 at 12:30 pm.
