The council approved several personnel actions on Oct. 7. Members voted to hire Deanna Polzin as Police Administrative Assistant at Step 1 ($21.51) with a start date of Oct. 21, and to hire David Strom (Step 2, $24.97 plus license differentials for a total of $27.47) and Brandon Karolus (Step 1, $23.72, with a required CDL within six months) for Public Works. Council also removed Joe Miller from his 90-day probation and moved him to Utilities Clerk Step 3 at $24.00 per hour.
In community funding matters, the council agreed to cover a $517.40 repair bill for the community garden water pipe; the mayor amended the motion so the funds come from the Park & Rec board. The amendment passed with one nay vote from Council member Jim Kreemer. The council also approved installing a free library box at Harmony Park.
