A county staff member told commissioners that Chase County has been awarded a Department of Interior Office of Wildland Fire grant to outfit two dump trucks with slip-on tankers. “We have been awarded a Department of Interior Office of Wildland Fire grant,” she said, and reported the total award as $52,857.
Staff said there is no local match requirement and that the county has vendor quotes and contingency and delivery costs included in the total. The county will proceed after the sheriff completes required paperwork and the clerk processes the award; staff indicated purchasing could begin once paperwork is complete.
The award was presented as immediate grant funding for equipment to support local wildfire response; staff noted there may be additional paperwork and minor internal approvals required before procurement is completed.
