Long Prairie council approves $5,000 bid package for Riverside Drive work

The Long Prairie City Council voted Oct. 21 to hire Bolton & Menk for $5,000 to prepare bid documents aimed at getting initial work underway on Riverside Drive. City Engineer Kent Louwagie told the council an Oct. 9 meeting with local stakeholders including Todd County and the DNR indicated much of the site could be returned to its original use with minimal permitting, and that initial work could begin this fall using a basic bidding package.
Council member JoAnn Schroeder moved to approve the quote and Jim Kreemer seconded; the motion was recorded as unanimously approved. Louwagie also presented a letter to be mailed to homeowners about lead service lines; council members asked that the letter be made available in Spanish to affected residents.
The approval directs Bolton & Menk to prepare contractor bid materials so the city can solicit bids for the fall construction phase. No contract award to a construction firm was made at the meeting; the council limited action to authorizing the bid package and consultant work.
