County staff praise interagency storm response; free Skywarn training announced

County staff and emergency personnel described coordinated multi-agency response after a major storm and announced a free Skywarn Storm Spotter training for community members.
Emergency management staff recounted that road-and-bridge crews, the sheriff’s department, highway patrol, EMS, fire departments and utility crews worked through Friday–Sunday to clear roads and assist residents. The speaker said the fire department used snowmobiles to reach 9-0-1 subjects during the storm and commended first responders for their coordination.
Staff also notified the board that a Skywarn Storm Spotter training will be held Thursday, April 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Ag Building, Room 131. The training is free, hosted in partnership with the University of Wyoming Extension and the National Weather Service, and is intended for first responders, farmers and ranchers who help ground-truth radar gaps.
Commissioners and staff said they will continue to assess road damage from the storm and plan follow-up work; County Engineer Ken Muller said crews are identifying a stretch of damaged road where a private dozer may have caused damage and that staff will bring options for recovery or billing back to the board.
