County raises nuisance beaver payment to $100; highway staff seek new motor grader

County Engineer Chad Gillespie told the commissioners the Highway Department needs the Board's approval to raise the Nuisance Beaver Policy payment to $100, a change the Board approved unanimously (motion by Metz, second Schmidt). "Gillespie asked the Board for approval to update the Nuisance Beaver Policy to increase the payment to $100.00," the record states.
Gillespie provided information on CSAH 9 and CSAH 15, Dumont, the county park, and a countywide federal edge striping project; he said the City of Wheaton's LRIP project was delayed until next year due to weather and gave an update on the 2025 summer flood. He also said the department plans to replace a 2007 motor grader and needs a decision before Oct. 31, 2025, noting the current unit's warranty ends June 6, 2026.
