Council grants impervious-surface variance for Locust Lane addition

The Anchorage City Council on June 9 unanimously approved an impervious-surface variance for Charles (Chuck) Weber to permit a house addition at 12301 Locust Lane that increases the property's impervious surface to roughly 10.5%. Weber told the council he would install a weir and redefine a drainage swale to mitigate runoff and agreed to replant trees at the one-to-one ratio required by the tree ordinance.
Weber supplied a recent letter from adjacent property owner Laura Sisler indicating she did not object to the proposed swale and the applicant's mitigation plan without installing a raingarden. Councilmember Patrick McMahon moved to approve the variance; Matt Delehanty seconded and the motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
