Town Manager John O'Daniel reported several operational and enforcement updates at the June 15 council meeting. He said staff met onsite with property owner Wally Courie (400 Money Island and 209 Glenn Street) to communicate what is required to bring the property into compliance and that staff will continue to monitor progress.
O'Daniel also told council, "Staff continues to monitor the enclosed trailers along the Causeway that are located in the NCDOT right-of-way, obstructing vehicular views. The owners were notified last week to remove them." He announced community programming: the first Retro Movie Night will be Friday at the Park featuring The Goonies with free popcorn; July 4 live music at the Circle from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with fireworks at 9:00 p.m.; and that the first Junior Lifeguard Camp concluded successfully with session 2 starting next week.
Manager O'Daniel indicated staff will follow up on compliance matters and that event planning requires coordination and, for some attractions, sponsorship to cover costs.
