Magna police report 206 parking citations and eight DUIs; UFA notes recruit graduations and planned training-center investments

Lt. Chris Benedict delivered the Unified Police Department's enforcement summary, reporting "the issuance of 206 civil parking citations and an active DUI enforcement campaign that resulted in eight DUI arrests," and said a two-and-a-half-hour saturation enforcement on 8000 West and 8400 West produced 37 moving violations.
Chief Kelly Millard of the Unified Fire Authority introduced firefighters from B-Platoon, reported seven recent graduates from UFA recruit camp (including thirteen paramedics systemwide and one new paramedic now stationed in Magna), and outlined preparations for fireworks season including an interactive restriction-zone map on unifiedfire.org.
Council Member Steve Prokopis said the UFA Board had tentatively approved a $25 million investment in upgrades to the Fire Training Center in Magna and discussed budget drivers including a 5.3% increase in the UFA tentative budget driven by health insurance and cost-of-living adjustments.
