Dobbins clarified that when the town activates its emergency operations center the town hall is used to coordinate response and continuity of operations and is not available as a public shelter. She also urged residents with special medical needs to register with Palm Beach County ahead of a storm so the county can provide oxygen or other support if required.
Practical tips included the "6 Ps" for evacuation (people, pets, prescriptions, papers, personal needs and phone charger), turning off water and gas before leaving to prevent post‑storm damage, and securing outside furniture to prevent projectiles.
