Porterville Unified board approves 12 student expulsions, several transfers to Vine Community Day School

The Porterville Unified School District Governing Board voted to approve a slate of 12 student expulsions for the remainder of the 2025–26 spring semester and the 2026–27 fall semester. The motion, moved by Pete Lara Jr. and seconded by Rudy Ruiz, carried with all seven trustees voting aye.
The expulsions include cases at Bartlett Middle School, Granite Hills High School and Monache High School. Several students will be transferred to Vine Community Day School; others were placed on suspended expulsion contracts permitting return under specified conditions. One student will attend the PASS program under a suspended expulsion contract. The board record notes that some expulsions were resolved via stipulated expulsion agreements in lieu of formal hearings.
