Deputy County Administrator Bridget Nugent presented a status update on the county's five-year Strategic Operations Plan, describing a new quarterly reporting template that ties departmental action items to committee oversight and time-limited objectives.
Nugent said the administration worked with a consultant and departments to develop implementation plans that break objectives into smaller action items with specific time frames and responsible departments. She said the intent is to provide regular progress information to legislators and to let committees request more detailed updates on objectives assigned to them.
Legislators thanked staff for the report and offered feedback; one legislator asked that an item listed as "implemented" (reducing flooding and protecting critical lands) be reworded to reflect ongoing work rather than completion; Nugent agreed to adjust the language.
Nugent said the report is intended to be a first attempt at a regular reporting cadence and that the administration will produce a short "one-pager" linking goals and committees for easier review at committee meetings.
