Piedmont board celebrates graduates, credits community as Measure H passes; tentative labor deals reached

Trustees opened the June meeting with extended remarks marking graduation season and the district’s parcel measure victory. President Ruchi Madiker said the community’s vote on Measure H was a clear show of support for local schools: "Measure h has passed. We are so deeply grateful." The board thanked volunteers and campaign leaders by name for their work on the parcel tax campaign.

Board members also highlighted tentative labor agreements with the Association of Piedmont Teachers (APT) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA). The agreements are described by trustees as supporting competitive, sustainable compensation and expanded benefits; board speakers said the deals include an increase in salary schedules and a contribution to healthcare costs, and they noted paid parental leave is part of the tentative package. The agreements remained tentative at the meeting and, according to trustees, must be finalized with ratification and reflected in the district budget.

The board honored multiple retirees during the meeting. A staff presenter recognized Donalda Selvers for 28 years of service as a paraprofessional, and attendees praised Laura Reamer, Havens Library staff, for her decades of work with students. A recent PHS graduate, Lehi Stevens, spoke during public comment to thank Ms. Reamer: "Ms. Reamer, you're proof of the impact of an amazing teacher," the student said.

Next steps: the labor contracts and budget impacts were described as part of the upcoming public disclosures when the board votes on any agreement; trustees said those items will return in a form that shows precisely how the deals affect the 2026–27 budget.
