The Dorset Select Board voted on Jan. 28 to withdraw the request for proposals for the Raptor Lane project after receiving community feedback that the proposal’s scope was too large. Jim Salsgiver moved and Henry Chandler seconded the measure; the motion passed 4-0.
"In light of the feedback received from the community, the Town will withdraw the RFP for Raptor Lane because the scope of the project is too large, but we will continue to hold the info sessions and engage the public to determine what type of project may be appropriate in Dorset," the board recorded in its meeting minutes.
Board members said the initial RFP process produced useful information but that further public engagement is needed before the town pursues a project of this scale. Alison Clarke told colleagues the public input had been "very helpful" and supported continuing meetings and outreach. The minutes state that the board learned from the first phase of the process and endorsed continued community engagement.
The motion records a 4-0 vote in favor; the minutes do not list individual roll-call votes. The board said it will continue to host information sessions and take additional public comment to help define an appropriate scope and project type for Raptor Lane or an alternative approach.
Next steps recorded in the minutes include continued info sessions and planning for a Feb. 18 housing forum to solicit broader feedback on project size, scope and type. The town manager noted that meeting minutes will be distributed in an upcoming email newsletter to help notify residents.
