Superintendent clarifies continuing-contract renewals as personnel reports are approved

Before the motion, Dr. James said that Sarah Rose, appearing on both the resignation list and the continuing-contract list, should only be listed on the resignation list; he explained that by law teachers on a continuing contract are automatically renewed and apologized "for any confusion regarding continuing contracts." Clif Harden moved to approve the personnel reports with Dr. James's amendment; Mandy Hillhouse seconded and the motion carried with six yes votes and one absence.
The minutes show the board did not convene into executive session for personnel discussion. The approved personnel reports, as amended, will be recorded in the district personnel files and the district will process listed resignations and continuing-contract actions according to state law and district procedure.
