The Tompkins County Legislature approved three related resolutions awarding spring 2025 grants for outdoor promotion, community celebrations, and tourism advancement. Housing & Economic Development Chair Greg Mezi presented the recommendations and noted that the tourism program budget allocated $132,700 for the year with $99,000 available for the spring round.
Resolution C awarded the 2025 Tompkins Outdoor Grants (three recipients, awards ranged roughly $15,000–$19,000). Resolution D allocated $23,009.50 among recommended community celebration events (less than requested because a second round is reserved for fall). Resolution E approved 13 tourism advancement grants totaling $98,980 and left about $33,000 for the second round.
Committee members noted one legislator (Mike Sigler) recused himself from votes where his employer could have a perceived conflict (advertising/billboard business). Each resolution was approved by recorded roll call votes.
